I saw Justin Berkovi there when Darkside put him on and it was cool. I`d rather have techno there (or anywhere) than no techno at all! Each to their own though.

we did a couple of good one offs there in 2001, berkovi & phuture then weatherall and radiactive man (which i missed 'cos our lass went into labour  but i heard it was good :o )
that venue's not ideal and definitely more suited to house music (the booth set up is really poor), but like Pob says it's better than having nothing at all on.
good luck with it Joy

I've had some good nights down at the mint club, the system in there's pretty decent, it's got a 6am license iirc and the mixed toilets are always a laugh after a few bevvies. The DJ booth is good from what i remember, it's been refrubed recently and it's right on top of the dancefloor so that'll please the spotters. There's not too much room if a live act are playing though.

I checked the dj Booth out a few weeks ago tbh,its the first thing i want to do when scoping a new venue its well equiped for any dj with three 1210's two cdj1000mk2's and a pioneer djm1000 and plenty of space for a live set up(which will be needed!)it must have changed a bit since a few years ago....

Ditto, I also can't wait. I know what people mean when they go on about the mint, but if they've had a refit then fair enough. I like the location of that club and I've been to a few techno gigs there that were pretty good. If it's techno and it's a good lineup I'm in! Oh and if it's just a little too bangin for ya, there's gatecrasher disco a few doors away!?

i'd wanted to go to mint club for a while before we decided to go - it was a back to basics night this must be back in 2000 or so, cant remember who was playing, but my first and only experience wasnt exactly what we were expecting. i was living in lancaster at the time, and it took us about 2 and a hlaf hours to get to leeds, then about another hour to work out the ring road to get into leeds. onec we got in we then had wrong direction, and another half an hour later me and 3 other lads got there and everything was looking good, right place, no queue "game on" we thought... we get to the door and straight away the bouncer said "wrong dress code"! 4 hours up travelling up the shitter
so then we wandered around town, saw a big queue and thought it must be a decent place and went in, me and a mate paid £10 in and bought a pint waiting for the other 2... we get a text saying he'd been refused entry for not having ID! so we got in the car and boshed our biscuits on the way home and listened to jeff mills liquid rooms on the way back, cracking night :)

Ah yes, the dress code! I forgot about that one. Not something I've ever had a problem with but then I did once go to the orbit in a suit and tie! Was pretty impressive but people did think I was the fuzz!

What is it with bouncers? When they apply for their license do you think they have an test to see how many stupid annoying excusses they can come up with and say with a straight face?
TBH I bet they get told what to say by the security firms boss but they're too thick to realise that what they're saying is such SH*TE. "sorry mate, no plastic bits on the end of your laces tonight, dress code!"
The worse ones got to be the plain "Not tonight mate". Your obviously not my friggin mate or you wouldn't think of turning us away after travelling to come and spend our hard earned cash at your bosses club. Tossers!
That said Orbit bouncers were always pretty sound, even if I did get thrown out once for being so shit faced I couldn't stand up!
My moan of the week!!

9th January 2007, 05:31 PM
i agree that the orbit bouncers were the soundest bouncers ever! especially when they would give you a piece of chewing gum which was probably from your own packet which they had taken off you earlier on that night! :D :D :D :D :D (other bouncers should take a leaf out of there books!)

I once got pulled to one side in the orbit at stripped searched and tbh treated quite badly which i thought was odd, (they found nothing but i had 3 vitamins hidden) this was in 95 ish and was by the bouncer i think was called john who was the older guy bouncer if anyone can remember?, he always tried it on with a girl i was sort of seeing at the time haha.
yet towards the end of the orbit days i had a mate who was a bouncer their and he used to deal drugs their hahaha, and it all seemed really relaxed, mad:cool: :)

@kells: as it's my birthday do i get to request which djs you have on? :D
i'll go with:
22:00 - 23:59 - dj dag to get us warmed up
00:00 - 01:59 - tanith to blow our rave socks off
02:00 - 04:00 - westbam to keep us perky til the end
if you could sort that out, then it'll be a good birthday.
+ can i reserve a toilet cubicle?

the bouncer said "wrong dress code"!
I totally hate the very phrase "Dress Code"....u should be able to wear whats comfy and practical for ur needs....ive only ever seen one guy turned away from orbit cos of the dress code rule but tbh the fella did look like hed been dragged thru a hedge forwards and backwards several times and his "shoes" were so holey they were nearly sandals....all i can remember the bouncer saying is, while looking down at the guys unacceptable footwear..."well,theyre not are they mate"..im assuming he was relating to the suitability factor...lol..i did feel sorry for the guy though....

I got pulled/searched at orbit once..on the stairs and they pulled out my couple o little ones for the night ahead....i just said, as you would "theyre just for personal m8"....with that he looked at me then put em back in my pocket and walked off...i look to my friend and syncronised smiles followed....a very nice man...a very very nice man....:) :) :)

it might have been a couple of years since i did home economics [or whatever they called it] at school, but i'm not sure you need a rolling pin for a cake! infact [unless it's a cheese cake where you need to bash some digestives] i reckon it'll be a pretty shit cake if you have to roll it!
