possibly.
i hear its the last Superconductor event for a while now, shame, i wonder what their reasons are? the scene is more vibrant than its been in ages in my opinion.

just by looking at the competition , so to speak its bloody hard youve got basic,s dirty disco gategrasher and the club which won club of the year oceana eh !!!!!!!!!!!!! also technique and asylum have moved to the wharehouse! it pains me when people are suddenly able to bill events as techno because it the in thing!if its techno we,re are surgeon lekenbusch ruskin etc! dj,s that can adjust there style to suit a crowd but still play quality techno, the above artists would wipe the floor with half the people that play in leeds they,ve been at it for years not the past two or so !
If say for dirty disco put lekenbusch on most people will not of heard of him but head rip the place apart !
im not knocking these nights ive been to many myself and had a top night but if say darkside or locked but on umek etc would over a thousand turn up -no change , its all about fashion image and getting the the promotion to match, people go were people go ,much like the orbit it was just talked about the name spread you went had a top night and got hooked
if theres going to be a top TECHNO night locally id say a venue of 300-400 is realistic and even then maybe by monthly!!!!
sorry for the rant but it needs to happen!!what do you think ?

we'd never put umek on, i doubt locked would stoop so low either. he lost the plot years ago. :p
you're talking about the sheep mentality though and to attract the sheep you need big money and flavour of the month bookings. i'm not interested in seeing a 1000 clueless fuckwits prancing about to the latest trend, i'd personally rather be in a small room of 100 like minded people rocking to some real minimal techno.

Probably gonna sound like a broken record here, which is unlike me as you all know! However, the Joey Beltram night really shocked me, I really was not expecting to have a good time. Too many of these "trophy dj's" just turn up and play you the predictible comfortable sets that they know are gonna obliterate the crowd no matter what they play! Now these nights are all well and good but, sometimes you need to be introduced to new sounds and there are some very very good unsigned talent out there that can give a rockin night even more. I think it worked at orbit putting unknowns on because they'd normally stick on another bloke on the same night, normally wiping the floor with them, but you'd always remember "that bloke" that came on before beltram, for instance! I think there needs to be a happy medium to be able to please everyone.
Techno is much more diverse now, that you couldn't possibly have 1 single lineup that would please everybody.

agree with you darkside 100%, sorry umek was a bad example! and sheep mentality spot on i was trying to be polite but clueless fuckwits is good ha !but as you know its hard work getting numbers and with all the costings you need say 300 to break even (depending on artists) its a struggle!so what next? a purist techno club with local talent ?like you said these nights have massive funds for promotion and the latest in artists but it dosen,t matter who they put on cos people will turn up ! I too would be happy to go out with 100 techno heads ,theres no look at me attitude just people going out and banging it out,i,d be straight there! but as balloff said you can,t please everyone.
take joy,s beltram night it surprised alot of people and was a sell out ! but on other forums there calling the next line up.a good nights a good night its as much to do with the crowd as owt! a night is what you make of it in my book .
the orbit had such a reputation that every year there would be like the new generation that would come and be loyal get into techno buy tunes etc
but now the students come go to technique and carry on for the next three years and so on because thats all they know !!!
