Hi guys,

I've seen on the internet a mix of famuya tanaka from the orbit, 1996. Don't suppose anybody has a copy?

I think I struck a deal with this guy before, but I had to send him an entire dvd worth of music, which I got in return, but most of the ones I got I already had because he had poorly labelled them with dates etc.

You mean you didn't do it at night school? If you did, you'd know it says something about techno.:D

I should have added that a translation of the above (there is a missing kanji) is:

"Techno's orbit format is the world's best, and it's always there."

He got half of it right, I guess.

no sadly my six years in nightschool where spent doing something a bit more mundane!

9/10 !!!I think i need to improve my babelfish punctuation skills!!

No way! Argh!

I thought it was a quote attributable to Tanaka san. I must have spent minutes looking for it... and then more minutes trying to work out what it said. In the end I sent it to a native speaker for translation.

Out of interest the kanji for 'World' is included - what did you put originally? Something along the Carlsberg quote?

No,it was a 'hoff the cuff' nano second entry, into the babel fish traductor and not a quote by the cleric Tanaka San.

I cannot remember exactly, but i wrote something along the lines of,"the orbit's techno is the best in the world and always will be",i think the word techno did not translate due to my bad punctuation, which often hinders good transations in babelfish.

I know this from previous experience learning to speak spanish.

B.T.W do you have a good knowledge of Japanese tyler?,i'll have to pm you a short piece that i could do with having translated.

Calsberg quote? as in "if carlsberg made techno/techno clubs it would probably be the best in the world..that would make an interesting advert to see......!

Erm... 'knowledge of' - yes, 'good' - certainly not.

I did it at night school for 3 years and have also lost count of the number of teach yourself books, videos, in-car-CD, DVDs, Linguaphone, etc.etc. that I've tried over the years. I can just about manage "How much is the big dog in the window" etc. so I would suggest that babelfish would be your best bet.

Part of my extended family is Japanese (hence the interest) so if the translation is important then I could ask them - although this is not an open offer for translation services.

On a funnier note (well, it was for me)... I did have a couple of incidents in the club: At the end of the night when Tanaka san's entourage were leaving I asked them if they'd had a good night and wish them a safe onward journey etc. The pretty lady who was always with them nearly choked on her surprise and probably thought her vitamins had just kicked in. The next time she saw me (6 months later?) she did a cheeky smile and ran! I often have that effect on the ladies anyway...

impressive nevertheless!

Always nice when you can speak the lingo...and funnier when mis-translations occur!
