Hello Fellow Orbiteers,
I first attended the Orbit in 91 before it went over to the darkside I went there for about 7 years with a gang of skinheads from Ossett/ Wakefield we could always be found on the top floor opposite the DJ just outside the Twilight Zone.
I`m sure you all can appreciate the Saturday nights all rolled into about 4 hours of what I now can recall. One of my memories involves me going into the mens toilets scooping up the ammonium hydroxide tablets from the urinals and taking them to a friend declaring that I had found "jewels" needless to say we were both tripping our nuts off Another one was when we went to see Twitch and Brainstorm ( they were crap beyond believe and if my memory serves me correctly the club was almost empty ) anyway there were only 3 of us from Ossett that night and we had some Malcolm X`s, we were in the top chill out room the one with the glass dome thingy in the middle I thought that we were in the glass lift in the Ridings shopping centre. I also remember getting barred from the dance floor for dancing too aggressively ( in a techno club!! ) I always had quite a space around me as I`m 6 foot 2 inches tall and then weighed in at a petite 18 stone.
The Orbit days were some of the best ever, queing and hoping to get in, nervous excitment before setting off ( usually resulting in a trip to the lav ) scoring, coming up, dancing like a loon, talking crap, collecting jewels and making people buzz. The Sundays that followed were some of the worst, laid in bed head a shed feeling guilty, paranoid, sweaty and clammy with the smell of Sunday dinner wafting up the stairs and the theme of the Eastenders omnibus making another irratating tune in my head. LOL
Take care, Math ( Ossett )
I would like to point out that I do not condone the watching of eastenders for spiritual exploration or social misadventure.
